Thoughts before Thanksgiving

  • I was at the laundromat trying to remember how long it had been since I last did laundry. When I got home I counted my pairs of socks and my underwear and decided it had been about three weeks. I like that I have enough t-shirts, socks, and underwear that I can go three weeks without wearing the same thing twice.

  • I am getting deliriously excited about the newly dubbed "Armageddon at Arrowhead" game between MU and KU next weekend. Carrie sent me a new shirt and I wore it yesterday . Luckily, my favorite Finn and fellow Missouri supporter Valpuri was also wearing her black and gold yesterday.

  • Last night, Alex, Pat, and I went to the movies. Afterward, Pat declared that he needed to go to the urgent care clinic. His throat had been hurting pretty bad and his lymph nodes were swollen up like walnuts. We ended up at the UNM Hospital Emergency Room and fortunately we didn't have to wait too long. Here is Pat looking rough:

And here is Alex looking concerned... or maybe just tired:

The doctor thought that Pat either had mono or strep throat, so they treated him for strep. He chose the giant shot in the butt over a week and a half of pills. I think maybe he regretted it afterward.

  • I was doing pretty good with my Mountain Dew intake for a while there... but I seem to have fallen off the wagon.

  • I've been thinking a lot about my options for next year. I am trying to build confidence in the idea of opening my own print shop in Saint Louis. However, I'd also like to teach. Ideally, I could do both eventually. In anticipation of applying for teaching jobs, I'm working on updating my resume, teaching philosophy, and artist statement. I'm also scrambling to throw a solid body of work together. Why are all the good things so hard?

  • Have I mentioned how excited I am for the Thanksgiving break? Only a few more days.
